PSYCHEDELIC PIONEERS

There's nothing more exciting than discovering new, contemporary art, and I read about this amazing group of artists who use technology in a completely new and exciting way. I found in extremely interesting (and kidna scary and amazing) to find that New York based multimedia artist Yoshi Sodeoka produces videos and imagery through a unique way of pushing the technology and software to a breaking point where it crashes, testing your visual consumption, understanding and experience with distorted imagery and noise.
He's part of an artist group brought together at MU who create these images and videos, and are inspired by technology rather than psychedelic hallucinogenic drugs discovered in the 60's. They create these brilliant psychedelic art forms; nothing like I've seen before. With a perfect balance of using influences from the past and looking into the future with the new digital age n'all, Sodeoka's work is inspiring and influential.

"This is one of the pieces from an ongoing psychedelic/ambient video project.

This project (yet to be titled) was inspired in part by the spirit of 1970's progressive rock concept albums, ancient Greek mythology, and shamanic ritual. It will consist of several short videos. Each piece will be autonomous, albeit part of a greater whole. The final number of videos and the total length is still to be determined. Each video in the series will be released as it is completed"
