SMELLS LIKE LEATHER

Claire Barrow started painting second hand leather biker jackets in October 2010 inspired by a DIY aesthetic which she gained interest in through different street subcultures and identities. Her designs vary from dark to ironic, juxtaposing the classic punk painted leather where the owner would adorn their jackets with imagery of their interests. Claire takes them into a different context which allows the wearer to have a one of piece of art that expresses their individuality.

Now, I'm definitely no punk, but I do find the beauty in these jackets.
I found Claire Barrow's designs quite a while back, but when I saw her in the 'Class of 2012' feature in i-D magazine, I remembered specifically the sorta things she designs; painted punk leather. Rihanna wanted her to design some jackets for her 'Loud' tour, Jessie J is wearing it, and her works been featured in the likes of i-D, Elle, Vogue, Attitude and some others already. Apparently she's taking a year out of Uni to develop this brand further because it's been so so successful, how good is that?!

Currently designing just one of pieces, her first full collection debut will be in May 2012, and I can't waaaait to see what shes gonna come up with because you know already its gonna be good.

A wolf in lamb's clothing

I know that if I was like, 10 years younger, then I could undoubtedly pull off an outfit by Meadham Kirchhoff. Now, not so much. But that's what I love about this crazy SS12 collection; its anything but serious. Recently, every magazine I've looked at, all I see is appraisal for the Dalston based designer due, and by looking at Dazed & Confused, they speak a hell of a lot of sense.
So until next week when MK show off their next collection at LFW, I'll be dreaming off those fucking immense shoes and that heart all in one piece. I also can't wait to get my hands on the nail wraps they've done for Topshop when there's more in stock/ if my local one has them

ReptileZzz

The models weren't the only ones looking dreamy on the Calvin Klein Men's AW 12/12 catwalk; CK let a hell of a beautiful reptile out the bag. Simple yet fucking genius. I don't care if this is menswear, I just cant help but drool all over the Croc skin in this collection.
If the world was to have a perfect jumper, THIS would be it. I want it, I need it, I have to have it.
But not only the jumper, just LOOK how beautifully that hot croc has been used for these classic pieces

Another illustration related post. I came across Hattie Stewart, a London based illustrator a while ago, and came across a series of illustrations she's done recently. Chosing a magazine cover as her medium to work with, Stewart has done a pretty decent job don't ya think? I'd love it if magazines actually did their front covers like this...
