Resorting to Minimalism

Stella McCartney Resort 2012
With this years Summer slowly coming to an end (well, it didn't really start surely?), I'm already looking forward to browsing through the resort collections and getting a glimpse of what's to come for next years trends. I love that designers have a chance to release slightly more casual and wearable clothes as well as their ready-to-wear.

My style ALWAYS changes, and at the moment I'm liking a bit of minimalism. Although nothing majorly new, I'm loving the rather effortless and minimalistic collection from Stella McCartney. I love how this lookbook has been styled, and how it touches up on the area of clashing colours and patterns. I also love love the hawaiian prints as well as the pops off block colours, lovely!

the Prorsum

As the years go on, the Burberry Prorsum label continues to produce refreshingly wonderful and exciting clothing. Taking the lead with creating the must have key piece for last season (the aviator jacket), the S|S season saw Burberry Prorsum bringing out the Biker jacket. I don't know why I'm so in love with the whole biker chick look Bailey does so well- it looks so elegantly edgy and effortlessly cool.. I guess that's why London fashion is so exciting. With Burberry being famously known for their classic trench coat, Baileys ideas begin with outwear: time has come when this has developed way beyond the iconic trench. Different colour leathers such as taupe, black and metallic's were bought in to add to the biker girl look, as well as exotic prints of quirky leopard and snakeskin prints. The collection consisted of flirty length dresses, bondage skirts, leather leggings and shrunken leather jackets decorated in studs and spikes. The hard-looking exterior was finished of with soft touches of padding, quilting, rouching, panneling and layering, as well as hints of zips here and there. The dark colours of the ultimate rock glamazon were broken up with zetsy bright purples, greens, yellows and blues, whether it was a random cheerful dress or jacket, a strapless bag or a waist cinching belt, it definitely added a summery spirit. There were also pastel hue's to add to the more feminine pieces in the collection.
I think Burberry Prorsum has managed to establish itself to become one of the more the fresher and fashion forward labels, with modern and eclectic, yet easy going designs.

Another thing I have discovered recently about Burberry Prorsum, is that they have 'Burberry Acoustic', which are videos of new bands performing acoustic versions of their songs. I think this is a great idea for them to discover, promote and support emerging talent etc. Prorsum will also be more appealing to the young generation, as well as stand out a little bit more from other designer houses. These bands are actually really good, and you can see the collection here on you tube. The label is adding new videos frequently so check it out
